A. Often referred to as walk in cold rooms or walk in freezer rooms, these bulk refrigeration solutions offer an independent temperature controlled structure with either an integrated or remote refrigerating system to cool or freeze the entire contents of the room in commercial environments. This industrial cold room refrigeration system provides large volume storage for catering and restaurant kitchens. Walk in chillers and freezers are often used as the main store for stock before it is moved to standard storage refrigeration closer to the kitchen ready for service.
A. A walk in cold room with integrated refrigeration simply means that the system that cools the equipment is attached to the structure. This refrigeration system is often referred to as a monoblock. A remote cold storage room means that the cold room compresser is attached to the room as standard, however the fridge or freezer condenser is positioned away from the room, typically on an exterior wall. Find out more about the differences between integrated and remote refrigeration here.
A. A cellar is typically a pre-existing building where a cooling system, such as cellar cooling, is retrofitted. Commercial walk in fridges are specifically constructed for large quantity cold storage using modular panels.
A. Yes. Any equipment designed to pull down temperatures will generate some level of moisture which needs an outlet to prevent condensation and potentially mould. Just as standard equipment requires ventilation and airflow, so do coldrooms and freezer rooms, after all they are the same just on a much larger scale.
A. Any commercial refrigeration can be expensive and walk in refrigeration is no different. For the smallest room size you'll generally be looking at starting prices from approximately £3400-£3500 + VAT however this will depend on the type of cooling system you need, the brand you choose and the level of warranty cover. Any additional features including strip curtains and shelving etc. will cost extra. A site survey is always recommended before purchasing any walk in refrigerator as there are a number of factors that must be taken into account when choosing the right equipment, and once a cold or freezer room has been purchased it is non-returnable.
A. Yes. You can position standard 'off the shelf' rooms next to each other or alternatively bespoke cold rooms are built to your specification and can comprise a chiller and freezer, or cold freezer room, housed next to each other. You could choose a separate door into each room or an integral door in a dividing wall that leads from the chiller room into the freezer room. You can tailor your configuration to your individual needs.
A. Walk in coolers are the biggest commercial cold and freezer units available for fresh or frozen produce. A full range of standard 'off the shelf' sizes are available to choose from, however if you need a particular size or shape, coldrooms and freezer rooms can be made using a bespoke service that is tailored to your specific requirements meaning that the perfect cold room for sale is always available.

Freezer rooms with temperatures from 0 to -22. If you need to safely store meat or fish you will need your room to be between -2 and +2C (definitely not more than +3C). For frozen storage, temperatures need to be preferably a minimum of -18C or lower. Can't decide which is the right cold or freezer room for your business?

A. Chiller rooms and commercial walk in freezers are one of the most efficient methods of cold storage solutions. Just one of the 8 benefits of cold rooms is that structures consist of a full room of insulation which helps to maintain temperatures. As they are generally used for large volume storage, they aren't accessed as frequently as other catering refrigeration and so can hold their temperatures effectively. As with all commercial equipment, energy efficiency can be optimised with regular cleaning, servicing and maintenance.
