Although seemingly similar to conveyor toasters with product being inserted at top, vertical toasters don't use a belt system. Instead breads and buns are compressed between heated plates, the product moving down and emerging toasted at the bottom. The direct contact between bread and heat means that vertical toasters are often refered to as contact toasters. It is this contact that produces the perfect finish with no risk of sogginess.
Vertical contact toasters can be used for sliced bread however are typically perferred for burger buns due to the quality of finish produced. All bun toasters have settings to adjust the degree of compression that in turn controls the level of browning. This ensures users an always create their desired result.
Vertical bun toasters are favoured, not only for the quality of results, but also for their space saving design. The vertical layout can generate high volume production within a minimal footprint, making this equipment ideal for busy kitchens where countertop space is a valuable commodity.
